Due to business growth and expansion we are looking for a seasoned professional to serve as business development manager in information technology (IT). The business development manager is someone who will help the organization bring in new business. The job requires both technical expertise and salesmanship. The business development manager would identify new business opportunities and help the organization maintain a competitive edge in Nigeria.
Education / Qualifications
The candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Engineering or any of the related fields. Additional degrees such as an MBA are preferred, although not a must. Professional qualifications in information technology, project management and sales will be an added advantage.
This is a job where work experience is highly sought after. An information-technology business-development specialist must have a proven track record in generating leads. The business-development specialist must show that she has delivered creative and flexible customer solutions to different businesses across various domains. Given the responsibilities and financial targets set by the employer, the business-development specialist must be able to work effectively under pressure. Given that the job involves interacting with both senior management and technical staff, excellent communication skills are a must. He or She must possess good presentation skills. She should also be a good team player, exude confidence and possess good interpersonal skills.
The primary job responsibility is to find and assess a business opportunity in his assigned territory for information-technology sales. Whether it is seeking leads in new markets or existing markets, the business-development specialist must be able to convince a potential client of the advantages of implementing an IT solution to help improve business. Often, the main selling point is trying to showcase how technology can help a customer cut costs and improve the bottom line. A business-development manager must thoroughly understand West Africa marketplace and trends, so as to fine tune and adapt to the ever-changing information-technology business. The sales aspect of this role necessitates networking, attending trade events and conferences.
